If you’ve not heard of Christ at the Checkpoint, please avail yourself and see what they’re all about. In a nutshell: “The aim of Christ at the Checkpoint is to provide an opportunity for evangelical Christians who take the Bible seriously to prayerfully seek a proper awareness of issues of peace, justice, and reconciliation.”
Sounds terribly biblical to me.
Concerning the conference, here are the goals:
- Empower and encourage the Palestinian church.
- Expose the realities of the injustices in the Palestinian Territories and create awareness of the obstacles to reconciliation and peace.
- Create a platform for serious engagement with Christian Zionism and an open forum for ongoing dialogue between all positions within the Evangelical theological spectrum.
- Motivate participants to become advocates for the reconciliation work of the church in Palestine/Israel and its ramifications for the Middle East and the world.
It amazes me the many American Christians who side, without critical thought, with those who discriminate and in many cases, commit crimes, against fellow believers. All in the name of poor biblical exegesis. This is why the contest is important, because it is not just Jew v Arab, but in many cases, the Government of Israel v Arab Christians, and they have a free hand in this because of American Christian Zionists who feel that it is somehow a sin to criticized the geo-political entity known as Israel.
