No, I’m not talking about any movie sequel. Apparently in an effort to keep up with competitors, Dr. Pepper has unleashed its own low-calorie-tastes-like-the-original beverage–Dr. Pepper 10. According to a spokesperson for the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, the drink
“was designed for men who prefer the taste of regular Dr Pepper but are looking for lower calorie options.”
If it lives up to the hype, this would be a heaven send for me! Trying to cut back on calorie consumption is not easy and though DP is not an everyday thing for me, it could be very easily. If this product launches nationwide, which it may do later this year, I’ll definitlely give it a try.
Despite what the ads say, Diet Dr. Pepper does not taste like the original. There is a faint hint of it, but there’s no mistaking the two. Same with Coke Zero–it’s not close enough in taste for me to opt for it over the original. Pepsi Max definitely comes closest of these three, but I don’t drink Pepsi often.
So, will Dr. Pepper 10 live up to its billing? We shall see. In the meantime, here’s a great commercial for it.
