Verses for the Day

I’ve been going through the Psalms on Wednesday nights  and tonight’s psalm (9) ended with these words:

19 Rise up, Lord! Do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your presence. 20 Put terror in them, Lord; let the nations know they are only men. Selah

Psalm 9:19-20 (HCSB)

It’s a sobering thought, indeed, to ponder the terror of the Lord, especially if we had no advocate.

Αυτω η δοξα,

  1. That was the idea behind the sermon I preached on Easter. The text was:

“The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.” -Hebrews 7:23-25

Not only do we have an advocate with the Spirit, but with the Son as well who eternally lives to make intercession to the Father on our behalf.
