Today, our twin boys turn 1 year old! It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year. They started walking a month ago and are now in to everything! It’s crazy to look back at the pictures of them in the NICU. As far as NICU babies are concerned, ours were “short-timers” and bigger than most, but they still had respiratory issues at first. Thankfully, their stay was comparatively brief. Evan came home first and Caleb came home a few days later.
Adjusting to having two babies at once was indeed a challenge. With one we could always alternate the middle-of-the-night feedings–not so with two! We were both up every three hours to feed. So it goes with twins–everything is doubled! Try though you might to prepare yourself, there’s nothing to prepare you like being immersed in twindom!
To say the least, they have been a tremendous joy. Sure, there have been plenty of moments when things got hectic. I didn’t mention that we have two older kids, Andrew (2, almost 3) and Leah (4 almost 5)? Yeah, so things can be pretty wild around here. But as we’ve both said a number of times, we wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world!
Happy Birthday, Evan and Caleb!
